Our philosophy: Open door…

We welcome anybody that wishes to learn the martial art of Taekwon-do.

To try a class, please get in touch and we will advise you which class and when would be best for you to attend.

We welcome all those that wish to learn Taekwondo; both new and those returning to study the art.
Each potential student will need to apply to join our school.

Approach:

Taekwondo is reputed to be one of the most effective forms of self-defence and our Instructors are passionate about teaching what works. They believe that you can apply the martial art to the sport but you cannot apply the sport to the martial art.

Environment:

The Instructors work hard to create and maintain a Taekwondo family. As part of this family unit, you will be encouraged to push yourself and learn in a safe environment to move out of your comfort zone and achieve things you didn’t know you could do.

Results:

Taekwondo is a great balancer. This means you will get out of it what you put in. The more you put in the more you will gain.

People are often surprised at the benefits they receive. There are the obvious physical benefits of increased fitness and flexibility but 95% of martial art training is mental…

What's expected...

1st lesson:

Everyone will welcome and encourage you. Wear loose sports clothing and bring some water. We train in bare feet and we recommend that you tie/clip long hair back. Please remove all jewellery.

(If you can’t remove it then please tape it.)

Please see our COVID-19 page for specific guidance.

Conduct and frequency:

Everyone follows the tenets of Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control and Indomitable spirit.

For good progression in the martial art we recommend that you take fully advantage of our blended learning by training twice a week in class and completing some at-home practice. (20-30 minutes daily)

Absenteeism:

If you are not going to be able to make your chosen class then please let the Instructors know either at your previous class, by phone, text or Facebook message

Blended Learning
Support: Blended Learning...

What is it?:

We know that not everyone learns in the same way and at the same rate and technology allows us to support those different learning styles. We have been remote teaching University students training for their black belt exam for a few years now and we know the positive difference it can make. Traditionally, Taekwondo has been taught in a class-based setting and there is no substitute for that, but online materials can support students and help keep a Taekwondo journey progressing.

How does it work?:

Everyone needs time in front of an Instructor and we would recommend you do that at every opportunity, be that weekly classes or more intense training camps. To support that time we have online materials to help you with your at-home practice. Videos are made available to support the content being taught in class and will remain available for a couple of weeks. In our experience, students appreciate knowing where to focus their practice. Should you find you would like a link to remain live a little longer simply ask!

For our remote students (be that University students returning home during the holidays, or those that have moved away from the area) the online resources provide guidance and structure on how you can continue to progress your Taekwondo journey. Couple that with our remote feedback programme and you will be able to continue learning your chosen martial art.
