First Grading Information
There is a Student Handbook available, which details the syllabus and all the information that you should know for each grade. We would strongly recommend that you buy one, it is a fantastic training aid and was compiled by Master Ray O'Neill.
However here is what you need to know for you first grading:
GENERAL INFORMATION
Facts
- Taekwon-Do was founded on the 11th April 1955
- UKTA Founder, Chief Instructor and Examiner is Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha IX Dan
- Founder of Taekwon-Do was General Choi Hong Hi
- Instructors: Miss Zoe Tate IV Dan, Mr Robert Dolan IV Dan
White Belt
- Signifies innocence as that of a beginning student who has had no previous knowledge of Taekwon-Do.
Meaning of Taekwon-Do
- Tae - Means to Jump, Kick or Smash with the Foot
- Kwon - Denotes the Fist, Mainly to Punch, Block, Strike, Thrust, or destroy with the hand.
- Do - Means the Art, Way or Method

Basic Exercise: Saju Jirugi
- Saju Jirugi is a basic exercise directed towards White belts
- It consists of two parts, each containing a series of 4 directional punches and 4 directional outer forearm low blocks.
